Closing Read Jan 22, 2010 Primary Trend=Down Number of days=2
PM Update Jan 22: Signal weight turned extemely negative during the last hour, sending the Secondary lower. The Secondary will need several days of strongly positive signal weight now to turn back up. I'd expect to see this cycle last about 2-4 weeks.
AM Update Jan 22: The Secondary is gaining 43 ticks to -196. The Secondary cannot reverse today unless signal weight exceeds +2940.
PM Update Jan 21: The Secondary closed at -155, a new down cycle has been identified.
AM Update Jan 21: The Secondary is losing 26 ticks to -33. To turn up, positive signal weight of 1340 is needed.
PM Update Jan 20: The Secondary lost 93 ticks to -59 and is still transitioning.
AM Update Jan 20: The Secondary is losing 166 ticks to -71 as signal weight has reversed yet again. To turn down, negative signal weight of -280 is needed.
PM Update Jan 19: The Secondary turned back up today, closing +71 ticks to +35. To confirm a new up cycle, the Secondary must exceed +75.
AM Update Jan 19: The Secondary is losing 12 ticks to -25. To turn back up today, signal weight of +960 is needed.

Jan 22: Closing Read Signal weight turned extremely negative during the final hour, closing at -2038, the Change -35. With the Primary approaching -10,000, it's in over extended territory. Signal weight will need to remain very strongly negative otherwise we'll get a quick moving slope change up on Monday.
Jan 22: 2:41 My program sent out another short signal obviously in error due to a data spike. Anyone's program do the same?
Jan 22: 2pm Signal weight has returned to -1063, the Change now in single digits at +5. With the Slope at -75, any moderation in signal weight will turn it up and a slope change will quickly follow. The Primary is now in overextended territory. Unless signal weight turns excessively negative, any further declines will be unsustainable in this cycle and will lead to a reversal.
Jan 22: 12pm Signal weight has returned to more negative levels, the Change now only +24. The value of the Primary is now approaching over extended levels.
Jan 22: 11:36am Signal weight -445, the Change +51 TTXSlope=3 bars.
Jan 22: 11am Signal weight beginning to reverse from earlier levels, now at -679, the Change +46.
Jan 22: 10am Until signal weight starts to turn positive, this cycle is going to continue lower.
Jan 22: Opening Read Signal weight has opened moderately negative at -773, the Change +54. We should see something of a reversal today.
Jan 21: Closing Read The Secondary has closed at -153 and a new down cycle on the Secondary has been identified. The Primary is at the opposite end of its cycle as signal weight closed strongly negative and the Change in positive single digits. The Primary is also not yet over extended on the downside at -7670 (9971 old program). With the Change in positive numbers, we know that the Slope has already reached its maximum for this cycle. Any moderation in signal weight tomorrow will turn the Change strongly positive and a slope change up signal will be likely tomorrow under this scenario. Otherwise, if signal weight opens moderately to strongly negative again the down cycle will continue for another day.
Jan 21: 2:45pm Signal weight continues very strongly negative at -1633, the Change now +6. The Primary is not yet overextended down but soon will be.
Jan 21: 11:48 Signal weight -1788, the Change -21 and the down cycle continues. Looks like the trading model made its 1% during the current bar.
Jan 21: 11:25 Signal weight has returned to -1527, the Change -10. At some point today the Primary may become overextended and with the Change already near single digits, we could see another reversal late in the day.
Jan 21: 10am Signal weight was all over the map last bar. At this posting, signal weight is +175 and TTXSlope=3.3 bars. I've got an appointment at 7:30 here so the next posting will be later this morning.
Jan 21: Opening Read Signal weight has opened moderately positive and building at this posting. TTXslope=2.4 bars.
Jan 20: Closing Read I've spent most of the time today posting on the Advanced section describing X. At the close, signal weight very strongly negative, the Change in single digits. The Secondary closed below -75 and we're still in a transition mode with the Secondary in a position to flip around. Tomorrow, signal weight will need to be at least as strongly negative as it is today or else we'll get another slope change up tomorrow.
Jan 20: 12pm Enter Short Confirmed at 113.22 The short has confirmed. Signal weight will need to close greater than -1760 for the Secondary to close greater than -75.
Jan 20: 11:30am Exit Long Confirmed, Early Enter Short issued The exit has confirmed and the previous signal failed not surprisingly according to our >+-75 on the Secondary rule. I won't be taking the short when it issues either.
Jan 20: 11am Early Exit Long/Early slope change down signal issued The early exit has issued and it will confirm at 11:30 unless signal weight rallies back to -1040 or less. When/if the signal confirms, it will also issue an early enter short signal.
Jan 20: 10:30am Signal weight -1840 as price is testing the lows from yesterday. TTXSlope=.5 or next bar. A short signal is likely today as well, however I'd still avoid this signal because the Secondary must CLOSE the day >-75 to establish a new cycle.
More Thunderstorms here today...may lose power again.
Jan 20: 10am Signal weight still very strongly negative, TTXSlope=1.57 bars.
Jan 20: Opening Read Signal weight has opened very strongly negative at -1658, the Change -144 and TTXSlope=2 bars. The signal is also out of confirmation as the Secondary has again flipped back down.
Jan 19: Closing Read Signal weight closed strongly positive, the Change +23. So price is back to the old highs and the Primary's not quite halfway through its normal cycle (aka: Change not zero). This week and next will be more prone to exogenous events (earnings) than the average week. Nonetheless, we must expect the Primary to continue higher at least through tomorrow.
Jan 19: 12pm Enter Long Confirmed The enter long signal has confirmed at 114.53. The trading model is long SPY at 114.53 with a gtc exit at 115.67 (1%).
Jan 19: 11:30, Exit Short/Slope Change confirmed, Early Enter Long issued The exit short/slope change up signal has confirmed and an early enter long signal has also issued that will confirm at the close of this bar if signal weight is greater than +760. Remember, signal weight needs to remain above +960 for the Secondary to be up, otherwise the signal will again go out of confirmation.
Jan 19: 11am Early Exit Short signal issued Signal weight continues to build. The exit short/slope change up signal has issued and will confirm at 11:30 if signal weight is greater than +780. An enter long signal is also expected today. As the Slope of the Secondary is still less than +-75, I would avoid this signal on SPY as well but I'd take it on X. Oh, my email was turned off at the signal so no emailed signals went out.
Jan 19: 10:30am Signal weight now strongly positive at +1236, TTXSlope=next bar at the current level of signal weight.
Jan 19: 10am Signal weight has turned more strongly positive at +917, the Change +104 and TTXSlope still 2 bars away. For a short time, the signal went out of confirmation as the Secondary's slope turned positive. Still nothing to do here but wait for a slope change. Any enter signal today will still be avoided by me as the value of the Slope on the Secondary will still be under +-75. I will, however, use a slope change for a possible trade on X.
Jan 19: Opening Read Signal weight has opened modestly positive at +482, the Change +98 and TTXSlope=3.2 bars. Signal weight will need to get much stronger to get a slope change up while the Change is still a strong number, otherwise, it could take several hours to get a slope change.
Jan 15: Closing Read Signal weight closed at -1305, the Change +8.5. Signal weight will need to become increasingly more negative on Tuesday otherwise the Change will turn sharply up and the process of the next slope change will begin anew. With the Slope at -400, we should see the Primary at -4200 in a few bars. Have a nice long weekend.
